Mortgage Cover can also be known as decreasing-term assurance.
Mortgage life cover is designed to pay out a cash lump sum to help pay off your mortgage if you die during the term of the policy. Specific mortgage protection policies have been developed to reduce the amount of cover in line with the outstanding mortgage debt as the capital is repaid, this is most commonly used in conjunction with a repayment mortgage, or capital and interest mortgage.
This type of cover is typically cheaper than Level Term protection as the amount of life cover reduces unlike a level term assurance policy where the life cover remains the same, unless you make changes to your policy.
The price you pay for a mortgage protection policy depends on a number of things. These include:
Whether you smoke
The length of the policy
For example, the younger you are and the less likely you’re to die from a medical condition, the cheaper your policy is likely to be. We will use this information to research the marketplace to find the cheapest and most suitable policy to meet your needs.
